It comes and goes in waves
Books are unpacked from their boxes and in my bookshelves! I still have two and a half boxes of books to go through and decide if they're staying or going, but at least those will fit in the closet while I figure it out.

They are so pretty and make my office look so nice. (This picture features Ariel, on the shelf, Simba, whose bones are in the jar above Ariel, and Toby on the floor, very concerned about Ariel's existence.)
The cabinets below are all full of reference books, and there's an extra bookshelf for SEanan McGuire, Tamora Pierce, and comic trades out in the living room. I am still running out of room. Help.
Also, the vet gave the OK to let Ariel out of the closet and around the other animals again. He's a little freaked out about all the space he now has, the other cats are a little freaked about him, but every one of them is a big baby pushover, so I do not foresee more trouble than a few hisses while they get used to each other again.
There are people supposed to come over and set up my new desk soon (really for real this time, I hope), and once they're gone I can settle down and try to write. I am in the middle of an action sequence in FSMG, one of the first scenes I imagined when I started putting the story together, and it is hard but fun. Today is not bad so far.

Also yay desk! Yay non-infectious cat! yay not sucking!
(I have to work tonight, you remind me of this. Especially since I have my mother's laptop to do stuff on and should...make deadlines. Ugh).

Unfortunately, the fucking desk they were supposed to set up won't work out because the screw holes are stripped, so it can't be put back together again. GREAT FAILURE. But this time they fucking gave up and promised to buy me a new one tomorrow, so that's something. I wish they'd just done that, like, two months ago, but whatever.
And now I can't write in my office tonight. :c Still gonna try, but it's harder out here.

If you want any help with anything, let me know? I have no idea what I might help with but well, I can try!

But hey, the desk I picked out and will theoretically be receiving will match my bookshelves much better, so that's nice. I'm not super picky about aesthetic things, but it does make me happier when things match. Now I just cross my fingers and hope it won't take too long to get it (because no corner desks are available in-store).
And I don't know that there's anything to be done, but thank you. ♥

Well, it's more that they are dumb fuckers for making you guys go through this whole damn song and dance in general.
But yay matching! :D This is excellent.

Book space is a tricky thing. :/ I'm not technically running out right now, because I've left some open space on most of the shelves for expansion without having to rearrange everything every time, but it's coming close enough that I'm fretting a little. Again.
And (taking into account your reply to

And thank you! I'm going to do my best. And the new desk I found looks amazing, even if idk when it'll get here, so there's that at least.

And at that, only real wood if you get really lucky. >.< So many of them are particleboard or something that you have to assemble yourself, and they're still grossly expensive! I share your confusion/annoyance!
My husband and I managed an amazing score a few years ago when a video rental store went out of business (;_;) and was selling off all their shelving. We bought five bookcase-sized pieces, which now house the DVDs and manga, for which they're sized perfectly. But the novels and non-fiction remain an eternal pain to house reasonably. :/
Yay for the new desk! A good desk is a beautiful thing. *^^*

New desk also has shelves on it! They'll probably go to notebooks and reference books, but more storage space is always a plus.
...also I have so much furniture in my house now, probably more than I ever have in any house, and I refuse to move out of this place without paying someone to carry it for me. It's just not happening.

Yay for storage space! I'm a huge fan too.
A lot of people swear by one of the Ikea models of bookcases (Billy, I think it's called? Although maybe now it's been cycled out?), but the closest Ikea to us is in Quebec, so that's never really been helpful for me. ^^;
